Editor’s note, in Bender voice: I’m back baby! (Later today)
Teddy Roosevelt’s dipolmatic philosophy was purportedly: “speak softly but carry a big stick”.
We can channel the US’s 26th president and learn a lesson for probing new techniques, whether they’re about manufactured spend, churning, or travel hacking: Trying something with $5 or $10 is just as effective as trying something with $5,000 or $10,000 — except that if it fails, $10 is a lot easier to write off as a cost of doing business than $10,000 is.
Once you find something that works with $10 though, take a big swing on the next round.
Probe small, then swing for the fences.
