That said, having a macro view on the space also helps us play the game. I want to focus on two specific instances of major movements in the last couple of days to illustrate the point:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yesterday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/05\/01\/first-republic-bank-failure.html\" class=\"ek-link\">Chase took over First Republic bank<\/a>. This sounds like noise for a churner, but it&#8217;s not; if you&#8217;re banned at Chase maybe you can quickly open an account with First Republic and get back into the Chase ecosystem. If that doesn&#8217;t work, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JJcycles\/status\/1653129695011938310\" class=\"ek-link\">there&#8217;s probably another bank failure on the horizon too<\/a>, and Chase is likely to step in on that one <a href=\"https:\/\/m.facebook.com\/berniesandersmemes\/photos\/jp-morgan-ceo-jaime-dimon-says-people-just-dont-feel-like-going-back-to-work\/2673123986312872\/\" class=\"ek-link\">because Jamie Dimon<\/a> so maybe open a speculative account?<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over the weekend, Hyatt announced that they were going to acquire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesstraveller.com\/business-travel\/2023\/05\/01\/hyatt-to-acquire-mr-and-mrs-smith-platform\/\" class=\"ek-link\">Mr and Mrs Smith&#8217;s hotel platform<\/a>. In unrelated news, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrandmrssmith.com\/americanexpress\/english\/6\" class=\"ek-link\">American Express premium cards grant access to Mr &amp; Mrs Smith&#8217;s travel club<\/a>, something like holding status. Maybe if you have status with Mr &amp; Mrs Smith, you&#8217;ll get Hyatt matched status over the next couple of months?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Keeping your eyes on the macro can help you with the micro.
