{"id":4415,"date":"2022-05-03T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/?p=4415"},"modified":"2023-04-18T11:44:08","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T17:44:08","slug":"barclays-plays-ball","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/index.php\/2022\/05\/03\/barclays-plays-ball\/","title":{"rendered":"Barclays Plays Ball"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barclays has heightened sign-up bonuses on several of their cards rolling out this week:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/cards.barclaycardus.com\/banking\/cards\/aadvantage-aviator-world-elite-business-mastercard\/\">Barclays AAdvantage World Elite Business Mastercard<\/a> (<em>editors note:<\/em> just typing that card name made my eyes glaze over, and its 15 trademarks almost made me ditch this post entirely) has an interesting new sign-up bonus:\n<p>\u2013 80,000 AA miles and a $95 statement credit after spending $2,000 in 90 days<\/p>\n<p>This is effectively a free 80,000 miles for $2,000 in spend in the first year after the $95 annual fee is offset by the statement credit, and it might be interesting beyond the sign-up bonus if you\u2019re playing the AA LoyaltyPoints game. If you\u2019re not, sock drawer it after hitting $2,000 in spend and close it in after a year. <\/li>\n<li>The <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/cards.barclaycardus.com\/banking\/cards\/wyndham-rewards-earner-business-card\/\">Barclays Wyndham Business Visa<\/a> card (<em>editors note<\/em>: I\u2019m not typing the whole credit card name after the above fiasco) also has an interesting sign-up bonus:\n<p>\u2013 65,000 Wyndham points after spending $1,000 in 90 days<br \/>\u2013 10,000 additional points for making a single purchase on an employee card<\/p>\n<p>This one doesn\u2019t have a statement credit to offset the $95 annual fee unfortunately, but if you can manufacture spend at gas stations it\u2019s probably worth holding long term even with the fee.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now, because we\u2019re gamers, let\u2019s talk about gaming:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Barclays will combine hard credit card pulls for applications made on the same business day, and you can be approved for up to three cards a day<\/li>\n<li>If you have an existing Barclays credit card, spend a lot, pay off your balance, and then apply to boost your approval odds.<\/li>\n<li>You can churn Barclays cards, but you typically need to wait six months between churns<\/li>\n<li>Barclays has a 6\/24 rule that\u2019s usually enforced (you\u2019ll probably be denied for a card if you\u2019ve had 6 new accounts on your credit report in the last 24 months), but big spend on existing Barclays cards can bypass the rule<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized is-style-editorskit-rounded\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4416\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" src=\"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/regulated-garbage-1024x657.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/regulated-garbage-1024x657.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/regulated-garbage-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/regulated-garbage-768x493.jpg 768w, https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/regulated-garbage-1536x986.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/regulated-garbage-1320x847.jpg 1320w, https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/regulated-garbage.jpg 2023w\" width=\"500\"\/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Just redeem those AA miles on partner airlines if you can.
