{"id":2559,"date":"2021-09-15T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-15T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/?p=2559"},"modified":"2023-04-18T12:17:34","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T18:17:34","slug":"wednesday-airline-mayhem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/index.php\/2021\/09\/15\/wednesday-airline-mayhem\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Airline Mayhem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Airlines went nuts in the last day or so, here are a few of most relevant announcements:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ana.co.jp\/en\/us\/offers-and-announcements\/promotions\/nochangefee\/?cid=faremail_na_us_en_2021094581\">ANA announced that they no longer have change fees<\/a> for trips originating in the US. The text in that announcement is a little weird in that it seems to imply that policy doesn\u2019t take effect until October 1, but I believe that what\u2019s actually happening is that on the first of October, countries in the Americas <em>other than<\/em> the US will no longer have this, but all countries in the Americas including the US have fees waived until then. A few choice ANA sweet-spots:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>North America to Japan round-trip in business class is 75,000 ANA Mileage Club miles during low season, 85,000 miles during regular season, and 95,000 miles during peak season. All of these are actually a great value.<\/li>\n<li>North America to Europe round-trip in business class is 88,000 Mileage Club miles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.southwest.com\/html\/offers\/nationwide_sale_NonstopConnect_210913.html?clk=6329049&amp;cbid=6329049\">Southwest is having a fare sale<\/a> for travel that includes Thanksgiving. Hopefully you\u2019ve locked all that in by now, but in case you haven\u2019t please do it soon. If you haven\u2019t booked by tomorrow, there will be consequences. What consequences? I won\u2019t feel bad for you when you have to book at higher prices. How\u2019s that for consequences?<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> Ok, so technically this is \u201cThursday Airline Mayhem\u201d, but I want you to be ready if it\u2019s relevant so this item was brought forward a day: Southwest is <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/churning\/comments\/plhbrq\/daily_discussion_thread_september_10_2021\/hcccmzj\/\">extending their schedule tomorrow<\/a>, and this round covers Spring Break 2022. I\u2019d do yourself a favor and look at your plans for next Spring and get some tentative flights booked with Southwest if it overlaps with those plans. They\u2019ll almost certainly change their schedule between now and then which will give you the opportunity to potentially switch to even better flights at no upcharge.<\/p>\n<p>If you book with Rapid Rewards points, you can always cancel and redeposit with no penalty for a nice play on tentative plans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jetblue.com\/sale\/touchdown-sale\">JetBlue is having fare sale<\/a> for bookings made by tomorrow that covers travel between September 20 and November 18.
