{"id":13304,"date":"2026-02-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/?p=13304"},"modified":"2026-02-23T16:39:04","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T23:39:04","slug":"tuesday-thought-let-the-deal-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/index.php\/2026\/02\/24\/tuesday-thought-let-the-deal-go\/","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday Thought: Let the Deal Go"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>When you&#8217;ve hit a groove in churning or in manufactured spend, it&#8217;s easy to get stuck in an opportunity cost loop, like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When I hit my favorite deal, I&#8217;m earning <em>$&lt;XXX<\/em>><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I can hit that deal every <em>&lt;YYY><\/em> time units<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After <em>&lt;ZZZ><\/em> runs, I&#8217;ll have earned enough for <em>[COOL THING]<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s all true on its face, but it often leads to a problem when you go on vacation, to a funeral, or to Lubbock for the world&#8217;s worst bachelorette party: It&#8217;s really hard to unplug, and that&#8217;s not because the math stops working. Rather, it&#8217;s because the math <em>keeps<\/em> working, even when you&#8217;re out of the loop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do you combat the math that won&#8217;t stop?
