On January 1(ish), we\u2019ll celebrate with the 2025 version of Travel Hacking as Told by GIFs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Travel Tuesday were all good to manufactured spenders, but companies collectively decided that the next day should be called &#8220;Woeful Wednesday&#8221;. The punches kept coming with devaluations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishairways.com\/content\/the-british-airways-club\/avios\/spending-avios\/reward-flights\">British Airways is devaluing Avios redemptions<\/a> with mileage rates increasing by ~10% and cash co-pays increasing by ~10-20%. The devaluation takes effect December 15.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/loyaltylobby.com\/2025\/12\/03\/turkish-airlines-milessmiles-devalues-domestic-star-alliance-awards-us-hawaii-hard-hit\/?omhide=true\">Turkish Airlines devalued Miles &amp; Smiles redemptions<\/a> for US flights with rates increasing by 50%-170%. The devaluation is already here.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfcu.org\/cashback\/\">The Redstone Federal Credit Union Visa devalued earning rates on its card<\/a>, capping 5% earning at $1,500 spend quarterly and removing the most useful categories.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalone.com\/learn-grow\/money-management\/venture-miles-transfer-partnerships\/\">Capital One devalued its transfer rate to Emirates Skywards<\/a> from 1:1 to 1:0.75. This devaluation happens on January 13, 2026.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AmexPlatinum\/comments\/1pddxac\/psa_do_not_go_to_the_amex_lounge_if_you_are_under\/?share_id=FpolZosgRk7D_sskORvwC\">American Express reportedly no longer admits you to the Centurion Lounge<\/a> while you&#8217;re in financial review. This one just arrived too.
