{"id":11826,"date":"2025-07-03T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/?p=11826"},"modified":"2025-07-03T01:24:26","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T07:24:26","slug":"thursday-wisdom-learn-from-the-past-but-dont-dwell-on-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesearnandburn.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/03\/thursday-wisdom-learn-from-the-past-but-dont-dwell-on-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Thursday Wisdom: Learn From the Past, But Don&#8217;t Dwell on It"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In churning, there are times in which miles are locked, cash is frozen, stock market trades are blocked, ACHs are held, sports books aren&#8217;t paying, and a dozen other circumstances get in your way, all of which mean you&#8217;re not able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Earn interest on your money<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make stock trades when it&#8217;s advantageous<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Book award tickets when availability pops<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to look back on those lost opportunities and dwell on the financial loss, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Loss_aversion\">psychologically speaking a small loss hurts more than a big win feels good<\/a>. My best advice for dealing with those losses is to learn from them, but don&#8217;t dwell on them.
